BIG NEWS

Steve Chandler and I have worked together for many years. Not only has he been my coach but we’ve co-hosted programs for coaches in the past in London and many of you have been asking me if I will be hosting something with Steve for coaches again given that we didn’t do something in 2019. Well, I can announce that Steve and I are planning to put on a program for coaches later this year (full details TBC at a later date). Additionally, Steve sent Continue reading →

SELL THE EXPERIENCE NOT THE CONCEPT

I heard this saying over and over again from my coach Steve Chandler and it made a lot of sense and yet I didn’t really implement it fully into my coaching business. For years I would share the logistics of my coaching packages with clients (it’s 12 sessions over 6 months. The sessions last 90 minutes and the cost is £x payable upfront). They might hear Steve Chandler speak about service but they still can get confused around the practical how-to of building their coaching practice. The beauty of this profession is that there are so many different ways to run a prosperous coaching practice, especially with the 3P understanding Continue reading →

HELP THE CLIENT BEFORE THEY PAY YOU

One thing that always amuses me is when I speak with coaches who ask me about holding back “their best stuff” before the clients pay them otherwise they would not get paid. The opposite is, in fact, the case. I have found the more helpful I am with a client BEFORE they pay me, the more likely they are to hire me. This means on a coaching call, I want to listen to their problem, challenge or goal and I want to ensure I do Continue reading →

THE POWER OF THE INSIDE OUT/OUTSIDE IN DISTINCTION

I know I have been guilty of looking for new ways to help my clients because frankly, I sometimes get bored of the same metaphors, stories and distinctions. Perhaps you have noticed the same that in our community language evolves, people are coaching slightly differently. However, I think we can really miss the power of the simplicity of the work. The simple distinction of inside-out vs outside-in can seem innocuous but he profound implications. My whole book is pretty much written around this one distinction. Continue reading →
